The foot switch mounts low in the wall and presents a recessed opening for the user's toe. A photoelectric sensor detects entry into the pocket without requiring a treadle to move. The assembly connects to a compatible door-control system through its low-voltage interface. Its recessed form keeps the activation point away from hand level and distinguishes it from a floor-standing pedal or a flat gesture sensor mounted near the skirting.
