The folded passage puts entry and exit on one external face.
Wall connections can be grouped without providing a second enclosure opening on the opposite side of the building route.
The U-shaped air shower uses two internal turns to connect both controlled openings to the same face of the enclosure. A central divider separates the passage legs, while enclosed air paths connect the blower and filter sections to the cleaning outlets. Nozzle positions, returns and access panels are arranged around the folded chamber rather than copied from a straight unit. This configuration supports facility retrofits where neither a straight nor an L-shaped transfer path can connect the gowning and clean areas.

Directional wall jets can be positioned for the changing garment orientation through the return section.
Replaceable filter stages and service panels support routine maintenance within the available plant space.
Direction lights and cycle indication can help first-time users follow the intended sequence without opening the adjacent door.
Return-route layouts need separate answers for building connections, turning clearance and cleaning exposure.
These are common configuration choices for a custom U-shaped personnel air shower. The timer and electrical references are selectable options, not a tested equipment schedule for the illustrated enclosure.

The usual starting configuration is a filtered recirculation enclosure with a timed access sequence. Multiple fan zones, additional returns and continuous-flow controls are selected separately; they are not assumed to be included in every U-shaped unit.
Locate the gowning-side and clean-side openings on the same wall, then allow for both passage legs, the divider and the return turn. Clear doorway width is not the same as clear leg width or turning space. State whether personnel carry garment bags or other permitted items, and keep the turn usable with the intended occupancy. For rooms on adjacent walls, compare the L-shaped cleanroom air shower.
A longer route does not by itself define cleaning exposure. Select the operating sequence around the expected arrival pattern, garment type and actual dwell time. Continuous walk-through operation needs a corresponding sensor and fan-control arrangement; it should not be assumed from the U-shaped footprint. For predominantly straight, high-volume traffic, compare the walk-through air shower tunnel.
Keep the divider, turning zone and service doors from obstructing nozzle discharge or return grilles. Multiple blower sections and additional returns are configuration choices, not a guarantee of equal jet velocity in every leg. Evaluate nozzle readings, recirculated airflow, fan pressure, electrical input and sound for the complete selected assembly at one operating condition.
Reserve filter withdrawal and blower-maintenance space before the enclosure is closed into surrounding walls. Keep clean-side and gowning-side queues separate even though their doors are nearby. Define normal travel direction, interrupted-cycle recovery, emergency release and power-loss response as distinct functions. An air shower supplements gowning and particle control; it is not a sterilizer or a hazardous-powder containment system.
